UptimeRobot alternative

The UptimeRobot alternative for teams that want the cause, not just the alert

UptimeRobot tells you a URL stopped answering. Opservo runs the same HTTP, TCP, ping, DNS and heartbeat checks free, then its agent explains the cause.

In short

The usual reason to look for an UptimeRobot alternative is not the checks, which are fine, but what happens after the alert: the page says "down" and someone still has to SSH in to find out why. Opservo runs external HTTP, API, TCP, ping, DNS, domain and heartbeat checks from its cloud on every plan, including Free, and its agent inside the server names the cause and the fix.

Why people look

Why teams look for a UptimeRobot alternative

It stops at "down"

An external check can only see the response. Whether PHP-FPM ran out of workers, the disk filled, a certificate expired or a deploy broke nginx is still a login away.

Alerts without a rota

UptimeRobot notifies the contacts you list. Repeat-until-acknowledged paging, an on-call schedule and escalation to the next person are not what it was built for.

Free means slow intervals

The free plan checks every five minutes; one-minute checks, more monitors and longer history are paid tiers priced by monitor count. A growing fleet of client sites outgrows it quickly.

One tool per question

Uptime from one vendor, server metrics from another, security findings from a third. Each has its own login, alert noise and bill, and none of them talks to the others when the site goes down.

Checklist

What to look for in a UptimeRobot alternative

  • External checks that run from outside your infrastructure, on every plan
  • HTTP, API, TCP, ping, DNS, domain and SSL-expiry checks, plus cron heartbeats
  • The root cause when a check fails: what changed on the server, and the fix
  • Repeat-until-acknowledged alerts, an on-call schedule and escalation
  • Public status pages and SLA tracking in the same place

How Opservo fits

How Opservo compares to UptimeRobot

Opservo includes an external uptime monitor on every plan, including Free: the same kinds of checks as UptimeRobot, from Opservo’s cloud, with SSL and domain expiry, cron heartbeats, SLA tracking and public status pages. The difference is the agent on the server: when a check fails, the incident timeline shows what changed on the box, and the fix is one click away. If all you need is a URL pinged from many locations, UptimeRobot does that well and cheaply, and the two can run side by side.

FAQ

UptimeRobot alternative: common questions

Is Opservo uptime monitoring free like UptimeRobot?+

Yes. External HTTP, API, TCP, ping, DNS and domain checks, SSL-expiry alerts, heartbeat monitors and incident management are included on the Free plan, with no card. On-call escalation and public status pages are on Growth and above.

Does Opservo check from multiple locations like UptimeRobot?+

Opservo’s checks run from its cloud and are confirmed before an alert fires, so a single failed probe does not page you. Multi-region probing is on the roadmap. If you need a check confirmed from several continents today, UptimeRobot or Better Stack do that, and Opservo adds the reason from inside the server.

Can Opservo monitor something that is not reachable from the internet?+

Yes. A TCP check can be assigned to an agent, which runs it from inside your network (for example against a private database) and reports the result on its next heartbeat. This is opt-in per server.

How does Opservo pricing compare to UptimeRobot?+

UptimeRobot has a free tier with five-minute checks and paid plans priced by the number of monitors and the check interval. Opservo is free for 2 servers, then ₹999 per server per month on Growth or ₹799 per server per month on Agency with a 10-server minimum; users and log volume never change the price. Uptime checks are included.

Can I keep UptimeRobot and add Opservo?+

Yes. The Opservo agent is outbound-only and does not conflict with anything. Many teams keep the external pinger they trust and add Opservo for the diagnosis and the fix, then retire the pinger once the Opservo checks have proven themselves.
