Incident management

From first alert to written post-mortem

Opservo makes sure a human actually picks up the page — then gives you one clean workflow to run the incident from “declared” to “resolved”, without leaving the dashboard.

In short

Opservo incident management combines on-call escalation with a full incident workflow. Unacknowledged critical alerts repeat and escalate through your policy steps by Slack, email, webhook, PagerDuty, OpsGenie, SMS, WhatsApp or voice call until someone acknowledges. Incidents are declared, assigned, updated and resolved from one screen, with an automatic causal timeline and a written post-mortem, so small teams get a PagerDuty-style rota without a second tool.

The lifecycle

One incident, one place, five stages

No juggling a pager tool, a chat thread and a docs page — the whole incident lives on one timeline.

01

Alert fires

A critical signal — a failed uptime check, a crashed service, a security finding — goes to your channels: Slack, email or webhook.

02

Escalate until acknowledged

If nobody acknowledges, the alert repeats on your interval and escalates to your on-call contact after a threshold you set. It does not give up.

03

Declare & assign

Open an incident with a severity, acknowledge it, and assign an owner — so “who’s on this?” is never a Slack scavenger hunt.

04

Run it on a shared timeline

Post status updates as you go — open → investigating → identified → monitoring → resolved — on one timeline the whole team (and your status page) can follow.

05

Write it down

Every incident keeps its running timeline and a post-mortem writeup, so the learning survives the outage instead of scrolling out of chat.

Not just a pager

The diagnosis lives in the same product

Most incident tools stop at “someone has been paged.” Opservo is also the thing watching the server — so while you run the incident, the root cause is being worked out next door.

Automatic incident timeline

On agent-monitored servers, Opservo correlates what happened into a causal chain — what triggered what — so root cause doesn’t require SSH archaeology.

Ask the AI, mid-incident

“Why is web-01 slow right now?” gets an answer grounded in that server’s live metrics, processes and logs — never a guess.

Fix it from the same screen

When the cause is found, Resolve-with-AI or one-click actions fix it from the dashboard — and what worked is remembered as a runbook for next time.

Questions

Incident management, answered

Where do alerts get delivered?+

Slack, email and generic webhooks are built in, each channel with its own severity threshold. Opservo can also deliver alerts outbound to PagerDuty (Events API) and OpsGenie if your on-call already lives there.

What stops an alert from being missed?+

Unacknowledged critical alerts repeat on a configurable interval and escalate to an on-call contact after a threshold. The loop only stops when a human acknowledges.

How does this connect to root cause?+

On agent-monitored servers, Opservo builds an automatic incident timeline — a causal chain of what triggered what — and its AI chat can answer “why did this break?” from the server’s real metrics and logs. The incident record and the diagnosis live in the same product.

Can customers follow along?+

Yes — your public status page reflects ongoing incidents, so customers see honest status without emailing support.
